Let’s say there are a lot of conversions coming in and everything is balancing out. Everyone is happy, and there’s a lot of things to celebrate about. While it may be time to pop the champagne, no one is done with their work. We have all heard that Internet Marketing, even outside of SEO, is an ongoing process. There’s a lot of things that should be done, and it’s time to consdier what’s going to be the next step. There’s always something that could be done. Getting back to the SEO side, let’s just take a look at the last word of the term: Optimization. There’s really no way to have anything 100% optimized, if that were the case, no one would be getting any SEO contracts.

Sure, we all know that we could always be building more links, and we definitely should. Outside of that, there’s still the on-page that shouldn’t be neglected. A lot of people seem to neglect the on-page SEO after a certain point, as they don’t want to mess with it too much. There’s always changes that can be made to the layout, content, and the general architecture, itself. It should be highly advised that a person does do that, as it can really have a pretty good impact on a website’s conversion rate.

While it’s great to allocate time to other projects, remember that you could always be working on the previous project, especially if it’s making good money.

There are many guides available on the internet that claim to have the secret for building tons of links overnight, without any negative repercussions from Google. Unfortunately, in most cases this is nothing more than wishful thinking. Over the years Google has refined it’s indexing algorithm to recognize unnatural linkbuilding habits, so most of the quick and easy methods will result in sandboxing, and possibly de-indexing if abused. Fortunately there is a way to build a lot of links in a very short period of time on sites that are genuinely relevant to your niche. The method is known as link baiting, and is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in search engine marketing.

What is Link Baiting?

Link baiting is basically the practice of distributing quality content on article directories and other web 2.0 sites in order to bait other webmasters into posting your content on their site. This is called content syndication, and despite the rumors of duplicate content penalties many sites use syndicated content on a daily basis. Although these webmasters will be using your content on their site it benefits you as well, as they have to leave the author links in tact, otherwise their search engine ranking could be detrimentally affected. In fact, many webmasters use Wordpress plugins that automatically fetch content from web 2.0 sites and RSS feeds, and these plugins leave the author links in tact by default! This means that any link you post in the original article will be posted on these sites, giving you tons of link juice with minimal effort! Backlinks are perhaps the most important part of a website marketing campaign, and link baiting with quality content is by far the best way to bribe other webmasters into giving you backlinks for free.

For the person who doesn’t know too much about SEO or Internet Marketing in general, it can be hard for it to be explained to them. This is especially difficult for any marketer to explain to the potential customer when you’re trying to sollicit your service. Unfortunately, if you don’t know how to break it down to them, they certainly won’t feel comfortable enough to take up on the offer. It’s just one of those things, and you can’t blame them, no one buys things that they don’t really understand. And with marketing services not being cheap, it’s imperative that you explain to them how the process works — using things that they understand.

Most people like to explain it by saying that SEO is the way in which search engines find a specific website. This would all be done with all of your on-page work, such as tags and descriptions. And when it comes to off-page SEO, such as link building, they may liken it to a conversation that many people are having about a certain topic. The more people that are talking about it, the more relevant it is to the conversation, giving it credibility. So, to break it down, the search engine needs to discover it. While that may be a muddled mess, a lot of people have had success in explaining it to the person in need of a web presence. There are many ways to explain it, but this is just a starting point.

While this explanation may not convert may people, it definitely gives the potential customer thinking in the right direction.

We have all heard the old adage, “cleanliness is next to godliness.” In terms of a website, this is what separates the good from the bad. We all have a lot of information to display to the potential customer, and while it’s imperative that we get it out there, there’s definitely a way to go about it. But, fortunately, there are very many different ways to convey this information. We don’t need to bombard the consumer with a lot of information — all at once. No one wants to see one million things popping out at them. While it may ease a webmaster’s piece of mind, it certainly won’t help with the conversion rate.

Consider a website like a home. If it’s dirty, you’re definitely going to have a lot of trouble trying to find what you want. People can think better when they’re in a clean enviornment, as there aren’t too many distractions. When a customer is on your website, they obviously want something in particular. On the homepage, make sure your content is right to the point. They need to know exactly what you’re selling, how much it costs, and what it looks like. Any claims that you need to make should be summed up as cleanest as possible — nothing more. People need to know how to buy your product in less than 10 seconds, make it perfectly clear how they do exactly that. Too much texts distracts the user from a call to action.

A clean home is a happy home, and a happy home is one with a high conversion rate.

There’s a lot of different things that a person needs to do when they are trying to run a successful SEO campaign. After all of the on-page is at a comfortable enough position, it’s time to work on all of the off-page. Yes, linkbuilding is one of those things that no one really likes to do, especially if they aer jumping into a new niche. Unfortunately, we all know that this is th most crucial piece of information if a person is going to actually see themselves dominating for the keywords of their choosing. While it may not be possible to “dominate” per se, there’s definitely enough for all of us out there to pay the bills. A successful link building campaign is one that is widely debated, and considering that we’re not going to be shady, we’ll stick to the basic principal.

Even though this has been said before, it’s imperative that all of the links that are pointing to your website are perfectly natural. There are still a lot of people out there that aer gaming the system, gaining all of the high PR links that they can, neglecting all of the lower PR links and their outbounds. It’s imperative that any person building their links to keep it completely natural, acquiring links of all rankings within their niche. While there will certainly be some two-way links in their, if a person creates a lot of quality content that people read, they’ll start seeing the links come pouring in.

Any SEO knows the name of the game is links. While there may be a few people that may argue some other points, they may be valid, but link building is really the name of the game. Sure, there’s a lot more than just acquring as many links as possible, but we all know that it’s the single largest thing. Search Engines love links, and the company owner loves being at the top of the search engine. There’s a lot of different ways that a person can acquire links, and unfortunately, this may be the single hardest part of being an SEO. Unfortunately, this starts a debate. No one wants to get links that aren’t really going to help them in the SERPs, so they’ll argue about what’s worth it and what’s not. It’s pretty confusing to anyone getting into the industry, and it’s also something that makes a lot of people quit before they even got into it.

It doesn’t matter which way the people get their links. As long as it’s not shady, and any SEO should know what is and isn’t, it’s all pretty good. One of the best things that a person should do, instead of following all of the gurus, would be to keep it simple. It may not make them a a boat of money than the shadier practices, it’s something that the Big 3 really enjoy. While it may not be that glamorous, it’s advisable. Create fresh content that people will actually want to read, find some useful tools, and find other people in the niche that you’re targeting. While it may not be the quickest way to the top, it will definitely help with the branding of a company. In the end of the race, it’s all about the company with the most credibility.

Marketing a website is one of those things that genuinely take a lot of work. Regardless of what a person may be doing (SEO, PPC), there’s always the need for a person to understand that content is absolutely king. There’s nothing that a person can do about that, that’s just how the internet works. Search engines surely love content. People love content. Assuredly, there are a lot of things to factor in, there’s no denying the fact that people will eventually have to determine if they want your product or not. They aren’t just going to buy because they see some pretty pictures, they’re going to need to see some information that will persuade them to buy. A lot of people like to see descriptions and reviews before they commit to a product. You’re probably not selling dairy products; your target audience may need convincing.

Content means a lot of different things to any marketer. For the person using SEO, this may mean that they need some articles and blog posts written. For an affiliate, this may mean that they need a landing page, ad, or something else. There’s no reason why a marketer’s content to be suspect. This is especially true if they are trying to brand their company, while that may not be the affiliate’s intention, a lot of people are actually selling products to build name for themselves. In short, building a rapport with your audience is quite possibly the most important goal. If you’re credible in your industry, there will definitely be an influx of unique visitors to your sites.
